Ancient Town (Minh An)
Living inside the UNESCO core is atmospheric but intense — higher rents, heritage-building restrictions, and day-tourist crowds every evening. Best for shorter stays and people who want the town as their front garden.
An Bang Beach
The heart of the long-stay foreign community: beach, cafés, yoga and an easy social scene, with the Ancient Town a 10-minute cycle away. The natural landing spot for remote workers and families who want community and sea air. Prime beachfront houses go fast through word of mouth.
Cam Thanh (coconut villages)
Rural, green and quiet — garden houses at gentle rents, at the cost of relying on a bike and having few amenities nearby. Ideal for families and anyone wanting genuine countryside within reach of both town and beach.
Cam Nam Island
Local, affordable and quiet, a footbridge from the Ancient Town. The best value in Hoi An if you are happy with fewer Western services on your doorstep.
Rough monthly rents
Studios start around 230–350 USD; one-beds 340–500 USD; two-bed and garden houses 480–750 USD depending on area and season. Longer commitments and paying in a lump sum bring the price down.
