Kuala Lumpur

A real city, not a beach with towers behind it. School-age children pull families toward Mont Kiara. A walkable week points at Bangsar. KLCC is the middle, and you pay for that, often in a smaller flat.

It suits families, and people who want trains, malls, and English more often than they will find on the Vietnamese coast. It is the wrong city if you came for a beach town.

• Mont Kiara, Bangsar, and KLCC are the three answers people actually give. TTDI is the less compound version of the family areas.
• The train covers the centre. It does not reach every neighbourhood people name. Grab covers the gap.
• Do not treat one blog rent as the price. Ask two landlords.
