Da Nang

A beach city that still works on a Tuesday. My Khe is the sand and the towers. An Thuong is where people eat and come back. The river, and the dragon bridge, are the centre of town rather than a postcard you visit once.

It suits people who want the sea and a functioning city in the same week: fibre, a Grab to the airport, a clinic you can book. It is the wrong city if you want a small town, or if your week depends on being out late.

• The housing choice is An Thuong, My Khe, Hai Chau, or Son Tra. Those are different weeks, not different postcodes.
• A normal appointment can be booked in the city. The question of a serious hospital is a separate decision.
• Hoi An is a drive south. Huế is a drive north, over the pass.
